All samples stored at IBBL are appropriately consented, standardised, and collected. Samples are derived from human tissue specimens, such as tumour tissue, healthy tissue, serum, blood, plasma, urine, or faeces.
Once collected, transport and preservation of samples is also carried out to the highest standard. This high quality is maintained by close work with the pathology community to create standardised processes and controls for biospecimen and data collection.
In line with our mission and vision, all of our sample collection is based on the needs of the medical community. Currently, our biospecimen collection is targeted to support our priority research projects in cancer, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and the normal population cohort. We also collect samples for other potential research.
Biospecimen Unprocessed biological material collected directly from donors such as blood or tissue (the average quantity of a biospecimen is about 10 ml)
