The ISBER Self-Assessment Tool (SAT) is a questionnaire that can be used by biobank managers to evaluate the degree of compliance of their biobank to the ISBER Best Practices. The SAT can be used by more than one biobank staff member and thus allows biobank managers to identify differences in perceptions of compliance between different staff members. The SAT provides an overall score of compliance, and can be followed up typically every year. From that point of view, the SAT has a natural place in any quality management system (QMS), since all QMSs require implementation and follow-up of quantitative indicators. The SAT (as well as the ISBER Best Practices) is useful not only in the everyday operations but also in the scope of biobank accreditation. The SAT can be accessed in one click and is free.
