BIOSPECIMEN PROFICIENCY TESTING

We provide a Proficiency Testing (PT) programme to laboratories working with biospecimens, and to biorepositories, clinical laboratories, research organisations and bioservice providers. Our research focus on biospecimen science, our dedication to quality and our range of in-house services make us an ideal partner for PT. Our PT programme is endorsed by ISBER (International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories).

How does it work?

Our PT programme is an External Quality Assessment  (EQA) tool  that lets you verify and benchmark the performance of your biospecimen processing or testing methods through the following steps:

  1. We produce standardised samples (reference materials) and ship them to your laboratory
  2. You use either
    • your routine processing method to extract the samples (assessment of your extraction efficiency), or
    • your routine testing method to characterize the samples (assessment of your precision & accuracy)
  3. You send us the samples you have extracted (for processing PT schemes) or the results (for testing PT schemes)
  4. We gather the results from all participating laboratories all over the world and perform statistical analyses and benchmarking
  5. You receive a Certificate of Participation and a personalized report with detailed statistics that show your laboratory’s performance relative to the assigned values and the other laboratories’ results.

This will allow you to assess your competitiveness in terms of quality.

Proficiency testing offers organizations who are seeking compliance with ISO17025, ISO15189, CLIA, CAP or equivalent, the possibility to fulfill the respective normative requirements. It also allows you to start preparing for upcoming ISO standards being developed by technical committees.

If you decide to participate in 2 or 3 consecutive years for a defined Scheme, you will benefit from a 7.5 or 15% discount, respectively. Additionally, ISBER members benefit from a 20% discount on all the listed fees. You can participate in one or more PT Schemes.

No refunds are available after the registration deadline. Partial refunds are available for cancellation requests received in writing prior to the end of the registration period, after an administrative cancellation fee of 75€ (EUR) is applied.

N.B.: the street address on the registration form will be used as the SHIPPING address. If the samples should be shipped to a different address, please send that address to ISBERPT@ibbl.lu

* For these schemes, you may test multiple methods in the same run according to the lists of accepted methods. You will however only be able to submit one result per method. 
For DNAQ16R1, RNAQ16R1, RNAI16R1, CELL16R1, THIS16R1, PLHB16R1, CSHB16R1 and CD4016R1, you may enter replicate measurements.

Registrations for the 2016 IBBL Biospecimen Proficiency Testing programme are now closed.

Registrations for the next round of the PT programme will open in the second quarter of 2017.
